Fuel-saving tips.Fuel-saving tips.

Reducing your car's fuel consumption is easier than you think. Here's a list of simple-to-do tips to show you how:

1. Take it easy and save.

Drive calmly and smoothly. Apply the brakes less, cruise along with traffic and let your vehicle roll. You will consume less fuel and your journey will be safer and more relaxed.

2. Driver in the highest gear possible.

TSI and TDI engines deliver astonishing pulling power from as low as 2,000 rpm. So you can drive in the highest gear possible to reduce noise pollution and fuel consumption. Volkswagen's DSG automatic transmission determines the ideal shift points for you.

3. Just let it roll.

Coasting in gear activates overrun fuel cutoff, so you won't use a single drop of fuel on a downhill gradient or when approaching a red traffic light. You benefit from the braking effect of the engine and save fuel.

4. Use auxiliary equipment in moderation.

Auxiliary equipment makes driving more comfortable, but if used excessively – more expensive, too. An air conditioning system, for example, consumes fuel. Yet you can reduce the temperature (and fuel consumption) by airing the vehicle before your journey and driving off with the windows open for a short time to let the heat escape.
