Reliable under pressure.

Brake fluid needs to satisfy high requirements. This is the only way that your car will stop safely, be that in hot or cold weather.

Fluid even in cold weather.
Brake fluid must not freeze or become tough even in extreme frost.

Binds moisture.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic: It absorbs water, thereby preventing drops from forming in the brake system – the cause of rust and reduced braking force.

High boiling point.
Brake fluid must not boil, as this gives rise to compressible vapour bubbles. The full braking force is not then transferred to the brakes.



Brake fluid absorbs moisture, thereby keeping the water content in your brake system low. However, this means that it rises in the brake fluid over time. If it is too high, the boiling point falls and vapour bubbles may form. When you depress the brake, these bubbles are compressed. Braking force is lost.     

Your brakes must work reliably – for your safety and the safety of others. Have only trained specialists carry out any work on brakes, preferably at your Volkswagen Service Centre.      

With a new Volkswagen, you should have the first change of brake fluid no later than 36 months from new car delivery – after that, we recommend a change every two years. Frequent stop and go, downhill or performance driving pattern may require earlier change of brake fluid.

Stop, switch off the engine and let it cool down. Only then, continue driving. Check coolant level.

Temperature indicator in the normalrange?

Check the coolant level when the engine has cooled down and top coolant up, if necessary. Is the level OK? Caution: fault! Don't continue driving; contact your Service Advisor.
